Fantastic and rare bowl by Clarice Cliff. You wont find it elsewhere or likely ever again.
This piece dates from 1920 to 1939 and pre-dates the lesser (in our opinion) Peter Pan Crocus pattern that this evolved to. That pattern lacks what makes this bowl a stand out and that is the figures that encircle the entire piece.
Measuring across from above the bowl is approximately 8 1/4″ in diameter and 3 1/2″ tall. The metal rim is marked EPNS for electroplated Nickel Silver. This can be polished but we have left it as is though it is still fairly shiny in its current state.
The bowl is in incredible condition as you can see in the photos and many of the few noticeable marks are probably more from the clay imperfections and from the hand draw nature of things. It’s a superb piece.
You are not likely to see this pattern let alone with large piece from this early pattern again so if you collect Cliff then don’t hesitate.
