Description
This is a fascinating little piece. It was put together by a soon to be successful and sought after Industrial Designer and it is not your average scrapbook.
Though the book starts out with a proudly kept small cloth 48 star flag (he was eventually made a U.S. citizen btw) it is the scraps that differ in that they are placed using his even then eye for design both in everyday items as well as architecture of New York city.
Please see the pictures for a much clearer explanation. From random, but well designed, business cards to early advertising logos this book paints a picture of a gentleman who fell in love not only with design but also New York and the people already designing in the U.S..
Flag is dated by the number of stars and we see dates going to 1963 near the back of the book. We estimate the time period from 1955-1964 or so.
Kept until his death we hope to find someone with a shared mindset and eye to love it as much as frankly we did particularly after sifting through his massive estate full of beautiful gems of design and invention.
Pieces were lightly glued and some have come away cleanly from the book. There are a few small pieces missing here and there but basically most pages have content. There are a couple of keys and one is marked “Hup” (Hupmobile??).
