Description
Very early 1930’s and a few 1920’s shots in here. Book is mostly Greta but there is a section with early Audrey Hepburn shots as well. Scrapbook is a self bound book with 11 complete pages along with a few partial pages. Great shots of both stars. One Greta Garbo shot appears to be a fan souvenir photo card “signed” “Sincerely Greta Garbo” (see picture). Cute Greta poem on back written by owner.
Some of the best stuff, however, is loose.
- First you get a complete front cover from Vol. 1 No.? (missing small spine piece) 10 cent “The New Movie Magazine” with fantastic color picture of Great Garbo. This head shot is also featured as a cut out scrap in the book itself on the first page. The cover has a corner crease at the top right with much less than normal wear, excellent condition overall.
- You get another full 5 pages that may have been in the book originally though the edges do not appear to be the serrated (tear away) ones in the book. One page features another impressive color illustration of Greta
- Another 4 large magazine scraps one of which features a picture of Greta about to be seen in her first talking picture, “Anna Christie”. Also a picture of student art at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women with large wall caricatures of Great Garbo and Joan Crawford.
- Finally you get a full newspaper page with the story “Love Garbo and Die…Professionally” which talks about the cost of all but two of Garbo’s leading men. Robert Montgomery and Clark Cable were the only two to miss “..a slide into comparative oblivion”. Great condition
An impressive early lot in equally impressive condition.
