Early 1970’s. There are number of ways to do this impressive little close-up trick. The basic trick is that you show a silver bar trapped in a corked glass vial. You hold the vial out in front of you. Now without movement from you at all the bar begins to rise and rises so much that it pops the cork right out of the vial and begins to rise out. You can follow this up with taking the bar out and having it rise from your open palm to the hand above it, again without movement from you.
