1st edition from 1923. Ultra rare but rough copy with spine paper all but gone and cover and 1st page pulled away. Includes newspaper clippings one of which notes that the a Peale portrait remains the property of his descendants. The book was put out by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Book appears complete despite its condition and is likely one of the very few of these to survive. Pictures and descriptions make up the bulk of the book and it provided a near one of a kind reference.
