Description
These stickers were designed by the Industrial Designer from this estate and he also designed the boxes that these were used on. The Polaroid picture is not included in this lot but shown merely to show the onsite work and all of the packaging materials he designed.
Neither sticker has been removed from its backing. The ST-6 sticker shows some marks from storage and is raising off the background slightly in a couple of spots.
Great for your case or crate!
These original never used brochures and actual design material lots are from the private collection of the Lead Industrial Designer, Yasuhiro “Jerry” Okuda, at the time at Harman / Kardon. His career was varied and he was involved with some of the biggest companies out there, see below for a short biography.
The photographs often included are directly from his work at Harman-Kardon and were never available to the public but were utilized for artist proofing, advertising, brochures and the like.
An example of a rare public credit for his work can be seen at:
http://www.thevintageknob.org/harman_kardon-ST-7.html
though a number of units produced had small plaques with his and other designers names on them.
Okuda was the industrial design lead for all of the Harman Kardon related materials we are currently selling and he has a very rich history in Industrial Design for many big companies. He was responsible for the unique clean look of the H/K line from the 60’s through into the 80’s.
If you are interested in these unique pieces then search the site for other related lots. You can also search for “Okuda” to find his other company items including Herman Miller, Honda, Thonet, George Nelson, Olivetti, General Motors, Royal Typewriters and many more.
