Description
Seen one?, we doubt it. Part sculpture, part Black memorabilia, part folk art.
Figure itself is 1 1/2″ high and 2 1/2″ long and depicts a Girl in Red head wrap and dress with shocked or surprised look along with hands beside her head, helping the expression. Obviously something in the open book must have given here the jolt? Perhaps it is the lifelike full Tiger skin she’s kneeling on? Figure shows so very little wear with lots of color and super detail, the pictures tell the story! Unknown metal but appears to be cast lead (see underside picture). Even these great pictures aren’t likely to give you the full feel for the detail down to the color and lines in the Tiger’s pelt. It’s fantastic! Remember, too, that pictures are from about 5″ away so any defects you perceive are likely unseen and certainly overstated.
Figure sits on a multiple layer and color cut edge thick felt rug that may have been added to the figure though it is quite possible that this his how it was initially sold.
We’ve had this in our collection for almost 25 years and we have never seen another or even a piece that was close to this scale and detail.
