Read below for some background on this amazing gentleman.
The Empress (then designated model 109) and the corresponding electric version, the Electress, was ground breaking both in terms of it’s then space age futuristic design but also in the design that allowed the case to be utilized both for the manual and electric versions.
US Patent # D197678, filed in 1962 and awarded in 1964. This package includes figures 1 and 2 as submitted for the patent along with many photographs of development as submitted for consideration to a number of design societies for publication. As normal practice the offices of the Designer are credited along with the inventor and further papers note him as the conceptualist and developer (inventor) and he is also noted on the figure drawings. Of course this was assigned to Royal-McBee Corporation and this package also includes correspondence from the company to the design offices.
Much of this package was put together by the Designer himself from his files for the submission to The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Industrial Developments International (IDI).
Never before and never again has/will a package like this be offered and if you collect typewriters or Royal memorabilia then your collection will automatically be elevated to new heights with this acquisition.
